Lambussie District Assembly

                                                                                    Mission Statement
The Lambussie District of Assembly exists primarily to improve upon the living standards of the people through the effective and efficient mobilization and utilization of resources with a direct participation of the people (beneficiaries) in a friendly environment and sustainable basis.

The Vision of the Assembly is to become a word-class entity which delivers quality services to meet the needs of its people including the vulnerable and excluded in society.

The Goal of the Assembly is to facilitate and co-ordinate the delivery of all sectors of the Assembly to meet the national and district objectives in collaboration with the private sector.

This would be achieved by:

• Formulating, executing, and monitoring plans and policies,
• Providing basic socio-economic infrastructure,
• Maintaining law and order,
• Organizing capacity building programmes for staff,
• Effective revenue mobilization,
• Effective co-ordination of the activities of decentralized departments, sub-district structures and NGOs.
• Promoting private sector development
1.6 Functions of the Lambussie District Assembly
The Legislative Instrument establishing the Assembly, (Lambussie District Assembly) (Establishment Instrument 2007), L. I. 1849 mandates the Assembly to perform certain functions dovetailed into those provided in the Local Government Act, Act 462 of 1993 and now the Local Governance Act, Act 936 of 2016 as follows:
• Be responsible for the overall development of the district;
• Formulate and execute plans, programmes and strategies for the effective mobilisation of the resources necessary for the overall development of the district;
• Promote and support productive activity and social development in the district and remove any obstacle to initiative and development;
• Sponsor the education of students from the district to fill particular manpower needs of the district especially in the social sectors of education and health, making sure that, the sponsorship is fairly and equitably balanced between male and female students;
• Initiate programmes for the development of basic infrastructure and provide municipal works and services in the district;
• Be responsible for the development, improvement and management of human settlements and environment in the district;
• In co-operation with the appropriate national and local security agencies be responsible for the maintenance of security and public safety in the district;
• Ensure ready access to courts in the district for the promotion of justice;
• Initiate, sponsor, or carry out such studies as may be necessary for the discharge of any of the functions conferred by the Act or any other enactment; and
• Perform any other functions that may be provided under another enactment;
