Lambussie District Assembly distributes over 1400 seedlings to farmers

Lambussie District Assembly on the 1st day of August, 2022 distributed over 1,400 seedlings for transplanting to interested farmers, institutions and the general public to protect the green economy of the district
The seedlings included about 600 Cashew seedlings, 400 Acacia seedlings and 400 Teak.
This activity was to mark the president’s agenda of planting more than 5million trees in a single day under the government Green Ghana Initiative aimed at regrowing the country lost forest and reduce the impacts of climate change.
Honorable George Gerald Naluri, Lambussie District Chief Executive addressing stakeholders at a brief ceremony with community members in the Hamile Area Council, indicated that the Green economy is aimed at empowering growth of the economy and investment along with enhancing social inclusiveness and quality of environment.
He said initiative was also to create awareness for mutual action towards restoration of the degraded tree cover in the district due to the indiscriminate felling of economic trees for charcoal and residential purposes.
The Honorable DCE urged with the residents, the traditional authority and religious leaders to champion the Greening Ghana crusade for their followers to emulate.
He also mentioned that, they should set by laws to protect the environment and punish culprit who are caught in the art of causing harm to the environment.
